Carbon & Smoke Alarms
Carbon and smoke alarms save lives and should be installed, maintained, and working correctly in every home. We encourage you to replace smoke alarms every 10 years, however, make sure you follow the manufacturers detailed instructions for maintenance and placement recommendations. Additional information on smoke & carbon monoxide alarms including installation, ORS, and special programs can be found on the OSFM website.
Silverton Fire partners with the American Red Cross (Cascades Region) for smoke alarms and has a comprehensive installation program. The memorandom of understanding provides and in-depth accounting of the process and the District's requirements.
